What this service is

Digital forensics is the careful science of working out what happened on a device or an account. Where a message came from, whether a photo was altered, who opened a file and when, what was deleted and whether it can be recovered. The skill is as much in how evidence is handled as in what is found. If the evidence is copied badly or handled without a record, the other side can challenge it.

Our two forensic examiners, Amanya Peter and Mugasho Lincoln, work on individual, corporate and legal matters from Kampala. We also work remotely for clients abroad, and agree secure handling before any physical device is shipped. Every report keeps established facts separate from expert opinion, so a lawyer or judge can see exactly what is observed and what is concluded.

You may need this if

  • You are in a court case and need a private forensic expert.
  • Your law firm needs evidence acquired, analysed and explained.
  • You suspect an employee of fraud, data theft or leaking information.
  • You are facing blackmail, harassment or threats by message or social media.
  • A message, screenshot, photo or document may have been faked or altered.

How it works

  1. Consultation

You tell us what happened and what you need to prove. We explain what is realistically possible, the likely cost and the timeline.

  2. Preserve the evidence

Devices and accounts are copied without changing the originals. Each copy is verified with a hash value, a digital fingerprint, and a written chain-of-custody record is started.

  3. Analyse

We recover deleted data where it is technically possible, examine metadata and rebuild a timeline of events.

  4. Report and support

You receive a written report. If the matter goes to court, we can support you with testimony and answers to questions about the findings.

What you get, what to expect, and what we need from you

Deliverables

  • Forensic copies of the relevant devices or accounts
  • A documented chain of custody
  • Recovery of deleted files and messages where possible
  • A clear timeline of who did what, and when
  • A written expert report, with testimony if required

Limits we tell you upfront

  • Deleted data cannot always be recovered, and we will say so if that is likely.
  • We report what the evidence shows. We cannot promise a particular outcome in court.
  • We only examine devices and accounts you own or are legally entitled to have examined.

Your part

  • Stop using the device and do not try to delete, reset or tidy it.
  • Tell us truthfully who else has had access.
  • Confirm in writing that you are authorised to request the examination.

Where we work: based in Kampala, Uganda, serving clients across Uganda and East Africa on site where needed, and remotely for international clients.

Common questions

Can you recover messages that have been deleted?

Sometimes. It depends on the device, how long ago they were deleted and what has been written over them since. We assess this early so you know the realistic chances.

Will you work with my lawyer?

Yes. We regularly support lawyers and can format the report to suit the case. We can also review a forensic report prepared by the other side.

Is my case kept confidential?

Yes. We share information only with people you approve and can work under a written confidentiality agreement.

I am outside Uganda. Can you still help?

Most cloud, email and account work can be done remotely. Where a physical device is involved, we agree secure transport first.

Tell us what happened. We will tell you what is possible.
